Troop 489
Our troop started in January 1999 after we fractioned off of a larger Brownie troop. We had 5 girls come with Lauri and I. The next year we lost 2 girls, but gained 2 girls. We crossed over to Juniors in 2000 and our troop grew to 12. We are still growing! In 2000, Lauri had to step down as our Co-Leader due to personal problems. After a frantic search one of the Senior Troop Leader's stepped in to help. Her name is Beth Martin, and her granddaughter, Jamie who is a Senior Girl Scout and who is also working on her Gold Award, under her is our Troop Mentor. I don't know what I would have done without them. They have been just great and the girls really look up to Jamie.

Bronze Award
Our 2nd year Juniors worked towards their Bronze Award this past year 2001/2002. Their Service Project for the Bronze Award was to collect non-perishible dog & cat food, bedding, pillows, etc... They did very well and all donations were brought to one of our no-kill animal shelters. The girls were able to tour the facility and play with the animals. All in all....they had fun and the animals loved the attention. Since these 2nd year Juniors had done so very well with the project, all 6 bridged up to Cadettes in June of 2002.
